Weeks ago we shared the story of Wendy and Danny’s wedding ceremony at The Ritz-Carlton with the promise of more to come on their gorgeous celebration. The couple had waited years to make it official, but when they put their mind to something, whew! Look out people!
They certainly know how to celebrate in style!

Last June Wendy and Danny walked into a ballroom we were decorating and POW, instant connection! We think actual sparks flew across the room! As they so enthusiastically explained, after 12 glorious years together, they had finally decided it was time to officially exchange vows. Their wedding was scheduled just a few months later at the beautiful Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia and we were thrilled when they asked us to bring their wedding vision to life. Wendy just happened to have with her a photo of a bride and groom exchanging their vows in an elegant, candle lit room surrounded by their friends. Ahhh, a dreamy vision was shared, more sparks flew and off we went!

Featured in the current issue of The Knot Philadelphia, the wedding of Jenni and Jay had to be one of the most elegant-yet-amusing events we have worked on! The couple’s clever wit, love of family and modern joie de vivre was evident throughout the wedding celebration. No matter where they went, what they were planning, or the topic of conversation, they were laughing together and it was a PARTY! Jenni and Jay enjoy each other and know how important family is to their future. As you can see from the gorgeous photos, Gabe and Philip Fredericks of Philip Gabriel Photography captured the couple’s candid moments and transparent happiness throughtout the day.

There really is nothing like classic bridal shades of ivory and white.
No matter where they are used or how they are presented, they truly are the purest tones that convey love, hope, romance and joy! Lindsay and Adam’s wedding at the always elegant Rittenhouse Hotel (as photographed beautifully by Francesco Mastalia) reminds us all that sometimes, it really is just that simple.

Over one hundred ivory Roses were disassembled and then painstakingly reassembed into one large blossom for Lindsay’s stunning bridal bouquet.

PASSIONATE PURPLE. The inspiration for the wedding of Danielle and Michael was indeed that very luscious color in all its many hues, such as blackberry, mauve, magenta, lavender, current, plum, aubergine, violet, grape and morning glory.

The bride envisioned a large tree dripping with crystals as her guests’ first impression. Rising to the challenge (quite literally), we “grew” a tree using grapevine, lemon leaves, hydrangea, roses, orchids, delphinium, lilac and stock in every shade of purple we could gather! Then we draped crystals and orchid garlands from every branch for an opulent garden display. The tree was placed atop an antique mahogany table in the ballroom foyer; its limbs magically extending over the arriving guests, nearly encasing the sparkling chandelier directly above. A true show stopper!

Candlelight and Diamonds! A couple weeks ago, we posted a photo of the stunning chuppah we designed for Betsy and Jake’s wedding at the Hotel duPont. Our good friend, the talented Michael Leslie, just sent us some of his photos capturing the beauty of the day.

Most people think of Evantine Design as the company to go to for big, over-the-top events. And it’s certainly true that we have done rather spectacular events for society families and celebs like Richard Gere, Elizabeth Taylor, Tory Burch and others. But what many may not know is that we routinely produce small gatherings like the recent June wedding of Kathy and John.
Choosing to share their nuptial celebration with only the immediate families, their wedding exuded elegance, romance and intimacy. The ceremony and dinner took place at the historic and oh-so-chic Park Hyatt Philadelphia at the Bellevue. The Cliveden Room was used for the ceremony where we transformed the space with diaphanous draping, vintage iron candelabra from France (and they weigh a ton, seriously), and white-washed Chivari Chairs. Cocktails were enjoyed on the Promenade where guests marveled at the stunning views of the Philadelphia skyline! After the sunset, the hotel staff invited the wedding guests to the Wine Hall for a restaurant-style dinner. The entire event palette was designed around soft, vintage shades of cream, ivory, champagne and blush pink. Weathered French iron urns and vintage depression glass compotes were used to hold lush floral centerpieces filled with peonies, garden roses and tea roses. Swarovski crystal taper candle holders were used along with faceted glass vessels holding floating candles. While we’re excited by our big blow out events, these more intimate gatherings allow us to bring out the hosts’ personality in the details. The Papery provided personalized menus and place cards as well as calligraphed table numbers. These wonderful photos were taken by Scott Lewis who managed to capture the warmth of the evening.
